To understand the concept of linguistics meaning, it needs to be clear the concept and role of language as language is the main focus of linguistic. It is the scientific study of language. And communication, is the primary function of human language; Which is the source of communicating our ideas, Feelings, desires and emotions.

Every human knows at least one language. So all social animals communicate with each other in a different ways.  Language is primarily human and not instinctive methods of communication. Every language has its own in the sense of words, speech sounds, and grammar rules. Words in language are finite but the sentences are not finite. As it is that resourceful aspect of human language that sets it apart from animal languages which are basically responses to stimuli.

Humans are capable of producing sounds and syllables in a stream of speech that results into words and sentences to convey the message. However, creatures are not capable to communicate in that way as the humans generally do.  Animals create particularly sounds to communicate with each other. They even create different sounds to convey message at different place and incident. Languages are linked to each other by share sounds, words and grammatical constructions.

Languages are studied scientifically under the name of linguistics, which is the main branch of language studies. Linguistic is the systematic study of fundamentals of the language and the principles that  govern their combination and organization. Linguistic has been derived from Latin word. Linguistics studies the languages as universal and recognizable as a part of human behavior.

   Linguistics attempts to describe and analyse languages. The field of linguistics comprises understanding of the places of language in human life. The ways in which it is organized to fulfil the needs it serves and function it performs. So linguistic is the science which studies the sources, organization, character and development of language traditionally and descriptively. And also formulate general rules which are related to the language.

Languages are studied systematically, descriptively and thoroughly under the name of linguistics. Which classifies the language study through its branches and levels.

Language studies deals with the language properties, as for examples sounds, words, sentences, and principles to use them. It has to go through the respective levels for its systematic and descriptive analysis. They are as follows:-

Phonetics and phonolog:

This is the field of linguistics that studies sound system, production and organization of speech sound in a language. It is the study of all human speech sound. It is the scientific study of  sound production. And it’s transmission and reception of speech sound. Phonetics in concerned with the description and classification of different sounds on the basis of our vocal organs. Phonology is the study of speech sounds of a particular language. It is the union of sounds into patterns. The phonology is wholly or partly different from that of any other languages.

Morphology:

The Morphology is the another branch of languages that studies word formation, and coinage of new words and morphological analysis of words.

Syntax

The next principle of linguistics is Syntax which study the sentence structure, phrase structure and structural ambiguities and sentence relatedness in the language.

Semantics:

It is the branch of linguistics that covers the meaning both. Lexical meaning and abstract meaning. And It studies the meaning thoroughly of sense (what is said) and nonsense (what is not said) throughout it. Semantics covers the ways in which sounds and meanings are correlated and the lexicon or mental glossary of words.

Pragmatics:

It is the subbranch of linguistics that studies how context contribute to it’s meaning. Pragmatics, it has speech act theory, conversational proposition talked in the interaction and other various approaches to language actions in the area like philosophy, sociology and anthropology.
